Louise’s passion for cooking and baking is inspiring! She started at TWB this past Fall with an excitement that was infectious. Each day she showed up ready to learn and excited to get into the kitchen. After graduating from our program, she has found employment and is still pursuing her passion for cooking and dreams of owning her own catering business. Check out her story below!
Since I was a child, I always dreamed of becoming a chef. I love cooking. By the age of 12 I was able to make some serious dinners and desserts. I was even able to decorate platters, not even understanding that was a part of catering.
I have been trying for a long time to get some type of schooling for cooking, but I was unsuccessful.
My daughter-in-law told me about the ServSafe certification and let me know how to get it. She mentioned it was a long test with a fee of $10.00.
Now when TWB was introduced to me, I thought to myself, “is this really happening?” I couldn’t believe that what I was waiting for was going to become a reality.
I called and inquired about the program. It was simple – 8 weeks, 3 days a week. I was amazed how this program was put together. Not only have I learned how to make cookies, granola, and apple chips, but other activities were included, such as business, inventory, and packaging. I was introduced to yoga and negotiation skills.
This baking class was the best program I have attended. I have mentioned this program to a few people.
