Meet Nigat

Published April 2, 2018

My name is Nigat Asfaw. I am married and I have two children, a son and a daughter. My daughter recently graduated from George Mason University! My son is working for Uber. I came to the United States in 2003 with my family. From 2004 to 2006, I worked in the Dallas Airport as an airplane cabin cleaner. In 2006, I decided to stay home and focus on raising my children until they completed high school. From 2013 to 2015, I worked as a babysitter. I am a happy person, I thank God.

I first heard about TWB during a fashion training at the neighborhood community center. Stephanie from TWB came and spoke about the program and invited us to apply. I interviewed and was offered an invitation to join TWB. I accepted!

I am very interested in preparing food. I have learned a lot from the TWB training. I love all of the training, I can’t pick a favorite part because I love it all!

I would like to have my own a carry out restaurant someday. We would serve native Ethiopian foods. I have learned a lot at TWB that will help me make my dream come true!
