Meet Patty

Hello, my name is Patty. I’m a mother of three; I have four grandchildren, and two more grandchildren on the way. This is why it’s so important that I turn my life around because it’s not just me who’s been affected by my choices. It’s time I make the right choices, and be the Mother and Nana I need to be.
I’ve been an addict most of my life – once an addict, always an addict. But now I have been through a drug program, and I’m going to continue to reach out to whatever support groups I can. I know God isn’t going to put me in a situation I can’t handle.
I like all of Together We Bake. I used to cook a lot, but I stopped cooking with my addiction. I found out about the program through one of the case managers at Fairview Halfway House, where I am currently residing. I arrived at Fairview on a Thursday and immediately joined Together We Bake the following Tuesday.
Being a part of TWB has been very informative and very inspiring. It’s hard to say which part of the program is better than the others, but if I had to say, it would be all of the hands-on experience and group sessions.
I’m a hands-on person. While incarcerated, I learned how to crochet and draw. I’ve made infinity scarves, headbands, travel bags, and barefoot sandals.
After Together We Bake, I would like to pursue drawing because it’s been a passion of mine. I would also love to use my ServSafe certification to get involved in volunteer work like feeding the homeless and serving lunches at my church on Sundays.
I know I have obstacles ahead of me: age, health, background, and addiction, but I’m not going to let any of that stand in my way. You’ve got to learn from your mistakes. I know changing is going to be a challenge, and I’m more than ready for that. I know this journey wouldn’t be possible without God’s guidance.
