Together We Bake Board Appoints Ashley Gaines as its New Chair

Together We Bake, a nonprofit employment social enterprise supporting women who are motivated to transform their lives through job training and personal development, is proud to announce the appointment of Ashley Gaines as the new Chair of its Board of Directors.
Ashley Gaines brings more than a decade of experience as an educator, nonprofit leader, and event strategist. She currently serves as a professor in the School of Integrative Studies at George Mason University, where she teaches courses on nonprofit management and leadership theory, helping shape the next generation of changemakers.
Ashley holds a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Black Studies from the College of William & Mary, and a Master of Arts in Social Entrepreneurship from George Mason University. Her unique combination of academic expertise, systems thinking, and passion for social impact aligns powerfully with Together We Bake’s mission.
“Ashley’s leadership comes at a pivotal moment as we grow our impact and expand our reach,” said Tricia Allen, Executive Director of Together We Bake. “Her vision, heart for community, and commitment to equity make her an ideal leader for our next chapter.”
Ashley succeeds Erica Anaya, who served as Board Chair for six years. Under Erica’s leadership, Together We Bake navigated the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, expanded programming, and transitioned to new executive leadership. Erica will continue to serve on the Board of Directors.
“I’m honored to step into this role at such an exciting time for Together We Bake,” said Ashley. “The organization’s commitment to empowering women through skills, confidence, and opportunity is inspiring. I look forward to working alongside the Board, staff, and community to further our mission.”
